What Are Managed Services?
Managed Services allows a business to offload IT operations to a service provider, known as a Managed Services Provider. The managed service provider assumes an ongoing responsibility for 24-hour monitoring, managing and/or problem resolution for the IT systems within a business.
Here's How Managed Services Works at Wimmer Solutions
Wimmer Solutions will deliver end-to-end services, managed through Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and Service Level Agreements (SLA). The work to be performed is well-defined and can be packaged or bundled into logical work units (such as milestones or deliverables). In a Managed Service, Wimmer Solutions is paid based on a deliverable, outcome or milestone achieved, not time & materials. Wimmer Solutions will work with a high degree of autonomy (for example, the company will tell us the what, Wimmer Solutions will tell the company the how).
Wimmer Solutions manages the resources (selection, performance, daily work and direction). Microsoft will provide neither daily direction nor control over the work, nor management of the resources. The company will conduct regular status checks and have approval authority over deliverables.
Wimmer Solutions identifies and assigns the people (or resources) to be assigned to the project without input or preference from the company.
A Managed Service Statement of Work (SOW) includes consistent measurable KPI's and SLA’s with Wimmer Solutions responsible for all aspects of the work and does not include other ad hoc services outside the outsourced process.
Outsourced work is typically performed offsite; Wimmer has three locations where work can be performed: Reno, Seattle HQ, and another Seattle location.
We manage the team from a distance but keep a close eye on how they perform, typically by hiring a Project Manager or a Delivery Manager. Once the team is in place, we also aim to offer continuous improvement by regularly communicating and assessing business processes to improve efficiency.
Benefits of Managed IT Services
Put in simple terms - one of the biggest benefits of Managed Services is discovering and fixing problems before they can negatively affect your business.
A well maintained, proactively serviced computer network will always run better than the alternative. With proactive network monitoring, patch management, and desktop optimization performed on a regular basis, you will notice a tremendous difference in operations… and you will reap the benefits of preventing fires, rather than fighting them.
- Increased operational efficiency
- Reduced operating costs
- Cost-effective access to enterprise-level support
- Minimized downtime
- Allows the focus to be on running the business, and not the technology
- Peace of mind from knowing that the network is monitored 24/7/36
